WOW! Hardly summed up this year’s Texas International Boat Show as over 20,000 people attended the four day show on just Saturday alone.
The Powerboat racing on Saturday and Sunday lived up to it’s action packed billing as
“Scary Jerry”, now in his sixties, showed the crowds that you’re as young as you feel - and then he flipped his race boat and kept everyone on edge until he resurfaced seconds later, he will be back next year for sure. Overall winner of the event was Cory Walker, with “Magic” Mike Schubert in 2nd place and, the only female in the race, Whittney Terry in 3rd place.
The Corpus Christi Pro Wakeboard Tournament ran across all four days of the Boat Show, with competitors from across the USA participating for the $15,000 purse. World Champ, Tom Fooshee, did it again and walked away with the big bucks but Gabe Lucas will be out
to try and change that for sure in 2011. Look for the photos and video on our events page.
If you thought the action finished there forget it - as LMC Boats Pro, David Christian and Forrest Vollentine came from 2nd place to win the kick off event in the west division of the
HT Redfish Cup and take home the top prize of $10,000.00.
The event ran over Friday and Saturday and brought some of the best anglers on the Gulf Coast, drawing huge crowds to the Weigh Ins at the Boat Show. The Pros at this event
were just that, Pros, congratulations went from team to team as each one prior to the eventual winners were bumped from the HT Hot Seat, exciting stuff and we look forward to seeing them at the Boat Show again next year.
Then there was the Boat Show itself, with boats of all shapes and sizes, from 15ft up to a 120ft Superyacht, and many of the boats being demo’d by potential buyers. RV’s, automobiles, classic cars, custom bikes and vendors selling a wide variety of products and services, rounded off four fabulous days of fun in the sun!
Next year will be the fifth year for the Boat Show, and we will be introducing more new events into the mix, keep tuned in and remember you can find us on Facebook for updated news.
